Day 7- Hiroshima

This morning, we woke up to the beautiful view of Miyajima. Miyajima, in Japanese stands for the Shrine Island. We all started our day with a wonderful breakfast buffet, then we headed out to see the Itsukushima Shrine. Shortly after, we caught the ferry back to Hiroshima and visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. The class as a whole realized the devastation that occurred 70 years ago.

We then caught both the bus and the bullet train to Fukuoka. We are currently staying at the Station Hotel Kokura which is part of the train station. Our rooms have a very eye-opening view which overlooks the city of Fukuoka.

Later, at night, we roamed around Kokura Station for dinner. Some of us also shopped around looking for omiyage to give to our friends and families.

  1. Miyajima is beautiful! The Peace Museum is a solemn reminder of what happened and why it should never happen again...

Safe travels as you continue on your journey!
